Questions people ask
How long do I have to live in a state before I can file?
Every state sets its own residency period before a divorce can be filed. A lawyer licensed in your state can tell you the current rule.
Can we use one lawyer for both spouses?
Usually not: a lawyer cannot represent both sides in a contested matter. Each spouse can have their own lawyer.
Is mediation an option?
Many courts encourage mediation. It can be quicker and cheaper when both sides want to settle.
